Currie

About the Area

Currie is a residential, commuting suburb to the South West of Edinburgh, between Juniper Green and Balerno, about 6 miles from the city centre and not far from the Pentland hills.

Currie is sandwiched between the two main arterial roads of the A70 (to Lanark) to the South and the A71 (to The Calders) to the North.

Semi-rural Currie has a good range of local amenity shops, pubs and a post office and has local access to both Primary and Secondary Schools and Heriot-Watt University's Riccarton Campus.

A more leisurely route to Currie from the city centre is along the Water of Leith bikepath. This wooded route along an old railway line extends as far as Balerno from the Union Canal towpath.
