Description

The Edinburgh Short Film Festival bills itself as Edinburgh's accessible, friendly and eclectic short film festival.

The 2019 Festival kicks off with a programme of shorts at Filmhouse on Thursday October 24th, including the 2019 Cannes Best Short Winner, BAFTA Scotland winner and best animation at Fantoche Int. Animation Festival.

Screenings take place over three consecutive weekends on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

There’s a rich and diverse range of films from Taiwanese animation to Indian romcom to Croatian comedy.

The festival will see 36 UK Premieres, including Guy Nattiv's 2019 Oscar winning short film Skin (showing 3rd November at Summerhall), Cannes winners and 27 International film festival award winners, alongside the best of Scotland’s 2019 crop.

There will also be a European Film Festival Best Films night, which will see partner film festivals from across Europe screening their best films and discussing film awards and what they look for in short films and a Texan Shorts night curated by acclaimed documentary film-maker, Prof. Paul Stekler.

Look out for new Animation Sundays screenings, featuring curated animation from guests O!PLA Polish Animation Festival and CEE Animation Forum (Prague) and a new Scottish Animation strand.

It wouldn't be a festival without parties - the main events are the Awards Party at Summerhall on Saturday 9th and an Animation Party at the Wee Red Bar on closing night.
