Description

The Edinburgh Lecture series 2008 and 2009 continues to focus on China with best-selling author, journlist, and expert on China, James Kynge's talk on how the last three decades of Chinese economic reform will impact the rest of the world. With the emergence of a middle class that may now number more than 150 million people China is reshaping the international economy. But who are the people that make up this vast cohort? What do they think, and how do they view the world around them? Kynge asks will China's rising middle class demand more political power as they harness increasing economic power in the way that the US did in the Eighteenth century in its struggled for independence.
