Edinburgh’s ‘Secret’ Vaudeville is a night of schmoozing, cocktailing, bopping and bedazzling amidst an extravagant carnivalesque show involving a wide assortment of performance-arts including: magic, character comedy, sketch, stand-up, improv, cabaret, dance, mini-plays, monologue, acrobatics, clowning, political ranting, male impersonation, female impersonation, more political ranting (this is usually provided by the audience – which is great because I don’t have to pay them), video art, ventriloquism, impressionism (not Claude Monet – or any of those guys – maybe Rory Rembrandt – come on, it’s almost an anagram), hoopla, contortionism, mime, physical theatre and a good old dose of audience participation (you have been warned!).
