Description

The Lecture Theatre at 20A Inverleith Row is the venue for this screening of a classic from the silent cinema era.

Buster Keaton's comedy Steamboat Bill Jr, considered by some of his critics as his best film, sees Keaton as the effete unknown son of a steamboat captain who joins the crew to help save the boat from the plans of the evil banker John King. Complications arise when he falls for Kitty, the banker's daughter.

The film will be accompanied with a newly composed/improvised score performed live by Jane Gardner (piano), Roddy Long (violin) and Hazel Morrison (percussion). The trio are currently accompanying Yasujiro Ozu’s Dragnet Girl (1933) as it is being screened at venues across Scotland.

This will be the third public performance of the trio’s original score to Steamboat Bill Jr
