Music @ 100 Princes Street
Running time:
Beethoven, Piano Trio No 7 in B flat Op 97
Robert Thompson (piano), Michael Gurevich (violin), David Edmonds (cello)

It is easy to tell that a group of players are entirely comfortable and practised with one another. This certainly was the case for the three young men of the Rhodes Trio. The trio was formed at the Royal Northern Collage of Music in Manchester in 2003. In 2008 they won the Elias Fawcett Award in the Royal Over-Seas League Annual Music Competition.

They were playing what is known as the Archduke Trio since it was dedicated to Archduke Rudolph of Austria and completed in 1811. There are four movements. Indeed the performance of the piano part in 1814 was the last time Beethoven played in public because he had become completely deaf.

The audience loved this Beethoven for Breakfast performance.
