Tickets for Edinburgh's annual Hogmanay celebrations will be released at 10am this Saturday.
The line-up for the four-day fest has still not been announced (the full programme is due to be announced in November), but event organisers have said that they will be settling for a more "Scottish" Hogmanay theme to this year's proceedings. In past years, there have been Spanish, Indian, French, and Catalan themes, leading to some criticisms that the event was getting too removed from its Scottish roots.
The four day Hogmanay festival starts on the 29th December with a Torchlight Procession from the Edinburgh Old Town through Edinburgh city centre to Calton Hill.
The following night it's the Night Afore International, a family-friendly, grand ceildih in the open air on George Street (with usually an attempt to break the record for the longest Strip the Willow in the world).
There is a host of Hogmanay parties on Ne'ers Eve Night, with the headline event being the Hogmanay Street Party with 100,000 revellers taking to Princes Street to see in the new year and watch the Seven Hills Fireworks display above Edinburgh Castle.
Then on New Year's Day, a bold few take a dip in the icy waters of the Firth of Forth in the Loony Dook, or participate in a triathlon or dog sled events.
Organisers will be hoping for better weather this year after they had to cancel the street party last year at the eleventh hour due to dangerously high winds. It was the second time in the event's history that weather stopped the street party taking place.

An allocation of tickets to Edinburgh's Hogmanay Street Party on the 31st December have been made available in advance of the Saturday launch online here. Street party passes are free, but subject to a £5 administration fee.
