Festival Theatre celebrates DanceFest this January

In a celebration of Youth Dance from dancers across Scotland and building on the success of a 3-year Dance Quest project, DanceFest at the Festival Theatre sees a number of youth dance groups invited to perform on the largest stage in Scotland. These groups have enjoyed public performances each year end that offered a platform for them to share their dance skills.
Cerin Richardson, Head of Creativity and Diversity, says, “This is a tremendous opportunity for Scotland’s young people to perform in Scotland’s premier dance venue and for us to provide a platform for their extraordinary dance talent.”
The evening promises to show some of Scotland’s best young dancers and should inspire anyone with an interest in Dance. This special showcase will include performances by the following 17 groups:

Broughton High School and Royal High School, Edinburgh – both who have been involved in DanceQuest for 3 years
Unusual Suspects- Dancebase
Scottish Ballet’s Youth Collective 3, from Glasgow
3 performance groups that have taken part in the ‘Hothouse’ choreographic project – run by Ydance and Scottish Ballet
Midlothian Youth Dance group
Performing Art Studio Scotland – Edinburgh College
Students from the BA Modern Ballet programme at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland
Dancers from Scottish Ballets associate programme
Dancers from the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance /Dundee and Angus College
Murray Grant Academy, Edinburgh
Ihayami Fusion, Traditional Indian Dance, Edinburgh
Edinburgh University Contemporary Dance Society
Barrowland Ballet Youth Company, Glasgow.
