Sunday December 9 will see Summerhall into a Christmas extravaganza when it brings together over 70 vendors along with festive entertainment to put you in the spirit of the season.

Last year’s Christmas market was attended by over 4,000 people over the course of the day in Summerhall’s many nooks and crannies. This year, Faceplant Foods will be serving up delicious vegan fare, while Morningside’s favourite family-run cafe Rocket is parking up it’s very cool ‘80s Elddis Caravan of Courage in the courtyard, plus Summerhall festival staple and Edinburgh favourite Rost is back.

The Courtyard bar will be serving up hot toddies, ciders and mulled wine and the Summerhall Café will have coffees, cakes and snacks. The on-site pub & restaurant, The Royal Dick, will be serving up grog and scran all day.

Summerhall’s own community choir, the Summerhall Singers, whose performances are between 1130-1230 and 1330-143, have a host of favourite carols to pick from and singing along is very much encouraged. Children’s art therapy charity The Teapot Trust are on hand running pottery painting workshops in the Anatomy Lecture Theatre. After selling out weeks in advance last year, Edinburgh’s Garlands Florist is back running longer festive wreath-making workshops in Summerhall’s Histology Lab. We would recommend booking well in advance as these workshops are almost selling out already!

For those wanting to keep their Christmas shopping local and support independent artists, the market will have alternative and interesting gifts. Favourite newbies for 2018 include kimchi and kraut specialists Edinburgh Fermentarium, Summerhall Christmas Market’s first vintage stall Farrago Retro, and homemade, small-batch, sustainable pampering from Amaranthine Skincare. There’ll be plenty of handmade trinkets, jewellery, homeware, fashion and beauty products celebrating the best of Edinburgh’s small businesses and artisans, many of whom base their practice at Summerhall all year round.

Sunday 9th December 11am - 5pm.
