The Edinburgh Interactive Festival has confirmed that gaming giant Nintendo has become a partner of this year's week-long event.

The Edinburgh Interactive Festival, a quasi industry and consumer festival that takes place alongside Edinburgh's Festivals in August at the EICC, has become a forum for developers to discuss the latest innovations and trends as well as an opportunity for the industry to showcase new titles at its popular screenings
programme.

Nintendo last year splashed its
family-friendly Nintendo's Cooking Guide: Can't decide what to eat? at the fest.

"The festival is unique in that it brings together
all the different aspects and facets of our business under one roof," said David Yarnton, General Manager Nintendo UK. "Edinburgh is an important platform
for interactive entertainment and showcasing software to the public
alongside TV, film, literature and comedy highlights the cultural worth
and credibility of our industry to the UK and the world."

Edinburgh Interactive Festival Chairman Chris Deering said Nintendo's presence would add "another dimension."

Deering added: "It's a free festival
for the public and a great chance for everyone to come and take a look
at some genuinely exciting developments within the industry."

The Edinburgh Interactive Festival takes place at the EICC, 10-16 August 2009, with the Conference
running on 13th and 14th.
