The local election results for the City of Edinburgh Council have now been declared.
As widely forecasted, the Liberal Democrats were punished for their handling of the Edinburgh Tram project and what ousted Lib Dem leader Jenny Dawe called "anti-Clegg sentiment".
Labour are expected to lead a coalition council.
The turnout for the elections was 42.6% with 141,552 votes cast and there were 1,868 rejected votes.
The overall results for the Council are as follows:
- Scottish Labour Party (Lab) - 20 (+5)
- Scottish National Party (SNP) - 18 (+5)
- Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party (Con) - 11 (unchanged)
- Scottish Green Party (Green) - 6 (+3)
- Scottish Liberal Democrats (LD) - 3 (-13)
