Foot Tapping Times Ahead at Summerhall

Edinburgh's independent arts venue, Summerhall, has some swinging summer surprises in store.

Now heading into its seventh year, Summerhall continues to host festivals and events year-round. Upcoming this summer is FestivALE and Southern Exposure and part of that will be the Courtyard Ceilidh

ceilidh is the Gaelic word for gathering or get together, usually involving music and dancing. As a nice wee build up to a certain Festival in August, Summerhall invites you to an outdoor Courtyard Ceilidh this June. What better way to ring in the summer in Scotland?

Music will be provided by the Scott Leslie Ceilidh Band who’ll be accompanied by a caller to help dancers through the steps, so you can swing your kilts and your partners with ease.

The Courtyard Ceilidh is part of Summerhall’s Southern Exposure, which is ten days of outdoor live music and events in association with Nothing Ever Happens Here…, Synergy Concerts, Rip It Up Scottish Pop Exhibition at the National Museum of Scotland and Edinburgh International Film Festival. It will set the tone for musical acts to come as part of Southern Exposure. The Courtyard Ceilidh rounds off Summerhall’s beer-filled weekend: the fifth annual FestivALE that is Edinburgh’s first locally run craft beer festival.

To date, summer is behaving quite well but do bear in mind that this is Scotland and weather can change so please dress according to the weather as it is, not as you think it should be. So, take your partners and hooch!
