Visitors to Holyrood Park will have the opportunity to enjoy the park free from traffic over the festive season. Traffic restrictions will be in place on the 25 and 26  December and the 2 January, with no vehicle access to Queens Drive and Duddingston Low Road between 8am and 4pm, following current Sunday access arrangements.

Road Closures For Edinburgh Hogmanay Events

The council has been prepping the public for road closures during Edinburgh's five-day Hogmanay Festival.

 Roads will be closed in advance (see details below) and the council warns: "Vehicles should not be parked within restrictions. All offending vehicles will be removed and may be subject to a parking fine and impound charges."

To the surprise of many, the Edinburgh Trams project people managed to open Edinburgh's main thoroughfare Princes Street last Sunday as promised. Buses, taxis and cycles have returned to Princes Street where the new tracks have been laid from west of Waverley Bridge to South Charlotte Street.

Council Consults on City Road Changes To Accommodate Trams

The formal process for the permanent changes to the road layout along the Edinburgh tram route will begin next month with a 28 day consultation period for statutory consultees.

This period will be followed with a general consultation period for all interested parties in February 2010.
