Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh's foremost paid visitor attraction, opens its doors for free as part of the annual St Andrews Day celebrations.

The Point Hotel Edinburgh plays host on Saturday 5th November to the Fireball, a fantastic evening of entertainment to raise funds for the Sick Kids Friends Foundation.

The final allocation of tickets for the annual Edinburgh Festival Fireworks Concert - this year dubbed the Virgin Money Festival Fireworks after its new sponsor - go on sale on Saturday 3 September at 10.00am. They are only available over the counter at The Hub on Castlehill.

The Edinburgh International Festival and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra launched a new Friend of the Festival Fireworks Concert scheme today.

The second allocation of tickets for the Virgin Money Fireworks Concert will be released on 18th July at 10am, online, over the phone and in person at The Hub.

Tickets go on sale this morning (Saturday 2nd April) for the Edinburgh International Festival. EIF director Jonathan Mills has waxed that this year's Far Eastern themed (or "Far Western" as Mills has suggested) festival will be "highly embroidered, exquisite, gorgeous".

"It will intoxicate people with its ravishing beauty," says Mills.

Public sales of Edinburgh International Festival tickets start from 10am this Saturday 2 April. Ticket prices start at just £10. Students and under-18s can claim 50 per cent off.
