The New Year Sprint

The New Year Sprint is an open 110m race, with a handicap start, that has taken place around New Year's Day annually since 1870. This year is the 150th anniversary year, and will see professional and amateur sprinters compete for a £8000 first prize, double the normal prize amount. The Sprint is part of a series of open, ladies, and youth races taking place over a distance of 60 metres up to 4 furlongs (approx 800 metres).

Edinburgh Marathon

Launched in 2003, the Edinburgh Marathon is the second largest marathon in the UK. The event has forked out into several running events that attract 26,000 entrants for several long-distance runs over the course of the weekend under the banner the Edinburgh Marathon Festival. The Edinburgh Marathon itself starts on Sunday morning at 9:50am at London Road & 10:00am at Regent Road, Edinburgh.
