About the venue

Mary Shelley may have conjured up the idea of the world's most enduring monster during a dreary Summer in Switzerland two centuries ago, but the brooding gothic tale has a certain resonance in Edinburgh with its history of bodysnatchers, gharish ghost stories, and dramatic architecture.

The Frankenstein pub, in a suitably gothic setting of an old church, may be more Rocky Horror than literally literary, catering to hen and stag nights, studes, and such like with its karaoke Sundays, Rocky Horror themed nights, and Silent Movie Tuesdays.

In the bier keller you can knock back the Steins and bratwurst, while listening to a traditional Oompah band playing mash-ups where "Beyoncé meets Bavaria". A different kind of Frankenstein monster.

The venue has separate bars over three floors, food, and big screens for sports fans. Kids are welcomed til 8pm.

Open early til late throughout the Fringe, with free, fun, comedy and horror themed shows for all ages.
