About the venue

Formerly, Rutherford's Bar, reputedly Robert Louis Stevenson's favourite drinking haunt, now a homage to the author's novel Treasure Island. The Hispaniola was the two-hundred ton schooner of the novel.

The wooden frontage of the Victorian building is category "B" listed and has been restored by its owner Franco Martone (co-owner of the restaurant Ciao Roma which is just around the corner). Naturally, the restaurant serves traditional Italian dishes.

Inside there's a clear Pirates of the Caribbean vibe with all sorts of period features - portholes, muskets, a parrot,  pirates (one with a hook, naturally), and a skeleton in a cell suspended from the roof - to create the sense of being on the galley of a pirate’s ship.

The restaurant available for group bookings.
