About the venue

Tucked down a narrow, cobbled street in Edinburgh's New Town, just off Charlotte Square, The Oxford Bar has the reputation of being an old man's bar, with good selection of real ale and bar lunches.

The white-walled pub is renowned as the favourite drinking hole of Edinburgh's famous, fictional, crime-solver  Detective Inspector John Rebus and sometimes his creator author Ian Rankin.

With its wooden finishing, worn leather chairs, and vintage, black-and-white photographs of Edinburgh, it has an old-world, traditional bar feel about it.

A good place to drop into during the Edinburgh Book Festival at nearby Charlotte Square or in Winter to warm yourself by the fire over a pint.
