New look EG

As regulars will see, EG has had a makeover. I've tried to maintain the simplicity and ease-of-use in the navigation and design that people said they liked so much about EG's first incarnation.

The new fixed-width, wide design aims to make use of peoples' ever-increasing screen space. For over a year now, we've been moving the whole site across to a database-driven site. Before then, only the bulletin boards and our Edinburgh Accommodation section made use of a database.

We now have much better integration of information and more tools like maps, photos in various resolutions, videos, and user functions.

It's going to take a while to move everything across to the database, so please bear with us if some links take you to older pages. Some older sections like our Edinburgh August Festivals coverage from 2000-2006 and old bulletin boards will simply remain in their former format as an archive - at least, in the near future. You can still these pages by using the Google search (top right). If you want to narrow the search to just newer content within the database then choose "content" search.

Building a web site is a neverending job - but I hope you'll agree that this is already looking much better.
