Accommodation Listing Guidelines

Accommodation listings will appear on the site both as individual pages and displayed in amalgamated forms (such as maps, highlighted properties, filtered lists of properties, searches, and so on). The aim of these guidelines is to maintain the high level of accuracy and integrity of the Edinburgh Accommodation Guide in all its forms.

Property Name: Name of the individual hotel, guest house, bed and breakfast, hostel, or self-catering apartment or unit.

Location Name: Same as property name (this field is used by maps).

Address, Town/City, Postcode: The address of the Property.

Postcode: The postcode will be used to automatically geocode your property on the map or you can click the map to set a location marker.

Property photo: Upload a recent photograph of the Property in the Listing.

Property Location: A short description of the location of the Property. e.g. "Centrally located property in the heart of the old town with splendid views of Princes Street gardens. Ten minutes walk from rail and bus stations."

Accommodation type: Please choose the relevant category from the menu for the Property. The categories are hotel, guest house, bed and breakfast, hostel, self-catering.

STB Rating: Rating given by the Scottish Tourist Board ranging from unrated to five stars for the Property.

Tel Number & Mobile Number: Telephone, facsimile and mobile numbers for the Property.

Fax Number

Website URL. Website address for the Property (specific page if on a site with many properties).

Number of Rooms: Rooms available for the Property.

Property facilities: Tick the relevant box for the types of rooms available in the Property.

• Breakfast included Breakfast is included in tariff.
• Restaurant The property has a restaurant.
• Vegetarian food Vegetarian food available where food is provided.
• Licensed Bar Property has a licensed bar.
• Laundry service Property has a laundry service.
• Swimming pool Property has a swimming pool.
• Gym Property has a gym for exercising and fitness training.
• Lift Property has a lift/elevator.
• Children's facilities Property has facilities for children.
• Pets accepted Animals are accepted.
• On-site parking Property has free parking.
• Free local parking Free local parking with two minutes of property.

Other information: The accommodation provider may provide up to 50 words of description about the Property.

Room types: Tick the relevant box for the types of rooms available in the Property.

• Single Rooms Accommodates one person. The room may contain a single or twin beds.
• Double Room Accommodates two people usually with a queen size, king size or twin bed.
• Twin Room Accommodates two people with two single beds or if not available a king size bed.
• Family Rooms Usually accommodates three people.
• Dorm Rooms Multiple beds in dormitory style room.

Room facilities:

• En suite bathroom: room(s) provide en suite bathroom.
• Television: room(s) have a television.
• Internet access: room(s) provides internet access.
• Fridge in room: room(s) have a fridge.
• Safe available: room(s) have a safe.
• Room service available: property has room service.
• Tea & coffee making: room(s) have tea and coffee facilities.

Room description: Around 50 words of additional description about the room(s) in the Property.

Rates  The rental basis for the accommodation. This is so we can offer users an indicative price for the accommodation.

Lowest Priced Room or unit: Lowest priced room for the Property per night or lowest price per week for self-catering Property during the year.

Highest Priced Room: Highest priced room for the the Property per night or highest price per week for self-catering Property during the year.
