Animotion - Evelyn Glennie at the National Museum of Scotland

Time & place
Description

The AniMotion Show: Evelyn Glennie and Maria Rud Following her unforgettable performance at the Olympic Games opening ceremony, world-renowned percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie is coming to the National Museum of Scotland for a unique concert with artist Maria Rud, cellist Philip Sheppard and vocal consort Canty.

Bringing together music and painting, and Scotland and Russia, this is your chance to witness the world premiere of music composed by Glennie and Sheppard especially for the show. Drawing on the themes of the museum’s current exhibition, the performance reflects the creative spirit of Catherine the Great's court and features early Russian sacred music alongside contemporary pieces.

AniMotion is a concept developed by acclaimed Russian artist Maria Rud in collaboration with a host of musicians. While the musicians perform, Maria paints a narrative piece on a lightbox, which is then projected onto a large screen in real time. The combination of music and art will result in a mesmerising experience for all the senses.

Don't miss your chance to see Evelyn Glennie in her first performance in Edinburgh since 2007.
