Description

Edinburgh Castle Concerts and Historic Scotland present Duran Duran, performing at Edinburgh Castle on Thursday 16th July as part of the 2009 Edinburgh Castle Concert series.

Duran Duran, often associated with their heyday in the Eighties, achieved 30 UK Top 30 hits and 18 in the USA. Their extensive catalogue of songs includes memorable pop tunes such as 'Planet Earth', 'Hungry Like the Wolf', Save A Prayer', ‘(Reach Up For The) Sunrise', and 'Rio', to name but a few, and 'A View to a Kill', which was the only Bond theme song to chart at number 1.

Despite the occasional pauses and some re-grouping in the 1990's, the band goes on. On their last studio recording, Red Carpet Massacre, they worked with top producers Timbaland and Nate 'Danja' Hills, as well as, lifelong Duran Duran fan Justin Timberlake. They are currently in the studio writing and recording with 'uber' producer Mark Ronson. To this day they maintain a global presence that guarantees them huge concert audiences on five continents. More remarkable still is the way they have achieved this, fusing pop music, art and fashion with a unique sense of style and confidence.

"We are currently in the studio, working on new music," reported singer Simon Le Bon when the concert was announced in March, "so are only going to be doing a handful of special dates this year. When the offer to play in this historic location presented itself, we were all keen to make it happen. It's been a while since we've played in Scotland - but have always had a great time playing to audiences there."
