SDI hosts an Edinburgh Masterclass with award winning Kazakh filmmaker Sergey Dvortsevoy. Winner of Un Certain Regard this year at Cannes Film Festival, Dvortsevoy dramatised the fast disappearing world of nomadic sheep herders in Kazakhstan in the part fictional, part documentary film ‘Tulpan', his first feature length film, which is also screening at Glasgow Film Festival on 21 February.

Dvortsevoy will talk about his recent switch from documentary filmmaking to the world of fiction and how the different genres inform each other. He will talk about and show clips of his series of award-winning short documentaries, including ‘Paradise' (1996), ‘Highway' (1999) and ‘In The Dark' (2004). He has won well over 50 awards for his work and screened in most of the prominent festivals in the world. Sergey is sure to inspire.

The masterclass takes place in the Main Lecture Theatre at Edinburgh College of Art
