Comedians

PATRICK MONAHAN

Patrick started off on the glamorous Irish/Iranian/Geordie stand-up circuit where he developed his warm, friendly, lively story telling style. He is a comedy festival regular and has performed his solo shows in cities such as Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leicester and Manchester and also at most major venues throughout the UK, year round. Currently much sought after as a regular TV & studio warm up - on shows such as; BBC 1's Bafta award winning 'Friday Night Jonathan Ross', "The Catherine Tate Show", and "The Kumars at No.42". Monahan's humour travels well. He not only engages the audience with charming banter about local affairs and universal issues, but also combines animated story telling style that draws on his own experiences of growing up in Teesside, (North East of England) of Irish and Iranian Parentage!

"Choice one-liners, charming banter, thought provoking but still extremely cheering stuff" THE LIST

ANDREW LEARMONTH

Andrew Learmonth took to stand up a few years ago and has since been living a lifelong ambition of being an occasionally funny comedian. Since taking up comedy Andrew has also been a DJ, a newspaper columnist, written jokes for politicians, had a song written about him by a washed up pop star and has written the children's book 'The boy who swapped his brother for a monkey'.

“A strong, confident presence...he has some promise” CHORTLE
“charismatic, witty, sharp stand-up” THREE WEEKS

PAUL SAVAGE

His style of Comedy is a mixed bag of confessional, whimsy, wordplay and ranting. Most of it is true. He doesn’t yet have a catchphrase, the closest he comes is the phrase “that, tragically, is a true story”. He once impressed a girl at a gig so much she called off her engagement and stalked him for a bit, sending him naughty photos. She has now moved back to Poland, and he can breathe easily again. That, tragically, is a true story.

“Paul Savage was fantastic” PORTSMOUTH NEWS
“Fine lines, Decent Ideas” CHORTLE

PHIL BUCKLEY

Since 2003 Phil has been winning over audiences up and down Britain with his laid back style, natural likeable charm and stylish delivery. Performing in comedy clubs, bars, restaurants, theatres, on TV and even live on radio, Phil has since travel the world with shows in, Australia, New Zealand & America. Using a combination of stories, one-liners and the odd prop based joke, Phil is guaranteed to have something to win over any audience.

"All Round Funny Man" THE LIST

BILLY KIRKWOOD – our compere

Billy first burst into stand up in 2005 and has quickly established himself as one of Scottish comedy's most up and coming young acts with an ever expanding, cult following, thanks to his Unique yet slightly surreal style of storytelling, likeable on-stage presence, energetic on stage performances, near non existent attention span, and is widely regarded as a must see act that leaves audiences sore with laughter.

“This vivacious comic with the wild hair and cheeky glint in his eye is a natural performer, and that will get him a long way.” CHORTLE
“Naturally funny, Fizzing with Energy” THE LIST

Live Music

WITHERED HAND

Withered Hand are a product of the ‘anti-folk’ scene, headed by Dan Willson who either plays live with other members or solo whilst on tour, they are slowly beginning to make their mark on both sides of the pond with their whimsical lyrics and affecting folk style. He will be just back from SXSW, a trip that was fraught with diffuculty when his visa was initially rejected. Come and support him at what promises to be a triumphant homecoming gig.

“It is quite some time since a debut release has placed 10 such perfect songs back to back.” ***** THE HERALD
“Willson’s sing-a-long afflictions and satirical narratives are marvellous.” **** THE LIST
