Out of the rain, or if lucky avoid the sun, but do get 'Into the Woods'.

While this may be the Junior version of Sondheim's musical, it is good fun as the young cast romp through a mishmash of fairy tales, familiar from many a Christmas pantomime.

Many of your favourite characters are replicated here by the talented Beacon School. The songs may remind you of 'Sweeney Todd' in places, but the youngsters have the ability in abundance to cope with his style of writing.

There is plenty of gentle humour, but the time flies by while the various stories reach the inevitable happy ending.

Lifted by an impressive sound system and an improvised set that makes effective use of back projection, there is not a weak link in the cast.

The baker's wife was particularly good with a really expressive face and the witch (despite the wig malfunction) was another young actor who stood out.

The direction was clever and the absence of a set almost enhanced the production.

One to catch for the sheer delight of seeing the cast enjoying themselves and entertaining the audience at the same time.
