Traverse Theatre and The Lyceum Present a Double Bill of Home Grown Young Talent

From the 10 to 12 March the Lyceum Youth Theatre (LYT) and the Traverse Young Writers (TYW) will present a double bill of new work at the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh.

LYT returns to the Traverse Theatre for the 6th year, to perform Eclipse written by award-winning UK poet, playwright and novelist, Simon Armitage and directed by LYT Producer, Rachael Esdale that part of the National Theatre of Great Britain’s 2016 Connections, an annual UK-wide youth theatre festival now celebrating its 21st anniversary.

The TYW group has created new work specifically for young performers aged 14 to 16 and the young writers who comprise Nerida Bradley, Mel Rozel Brayford, Tom Kinney, Diane Stewart, Sarah Thewlis and Dominic Walsh with directors Rosanna Hall and Kirsty Rennie, have been mentored by the Traverse Theatre’s Artistic Team and participated in workshops led by professional playwrights including Stef Smith, Oliver Emanuel, Gary McNair, Clare Duffy and May Sumbwanyambe.

Rachael Esdale, Lyceum Youth Theatre Producer and Director of Eclipse says, “I am so excited about our forthcoming performances at the Traverse Theatre. Simon’s beautiful script has allowed us the opportunity to create a large company of fine young performers and the short plays have created the opportunity for lots of exciting, experimental work – I look forward to sharing this unique Edinburgh collaboration with a wider audience.”
