The Vue Omni is hosting three free screenings of horror films in the run-up to their DVD releases in a "Credit Crunch special". Credit Crunch Cinema kicks off on the 15 May with a free screening of One Eyed Monster starring adult film stars Ron Jeremy and Veronica Hart and "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" pin-up Amber Benson.

One Eyed Monster is a homage to the classic sci-fi horror of Alien and The Thing.

The next credit crunch screening takes place a week later on 22 May with the gory Manhunt, a European horror film that riffs on the newly reanimated ‘grindhouse' genre of classic 70s horror cinema with its no holds barred roots.

On the 5 June Kerrang! exclusively presents Dead Girl. From the producer of the seminal Hellraiser and the Heathers, Dead Girl is a dark high school comedy about the horror of growing up.

All three screenings will take place at the Vue Edinburgh Omni, one of five UK Vue Cinemas taking part in the series (the others being Vue West End, Vue Cambridge, Vue Manchester Lowry, and Vue Bristol Cribbs Causeway are the other Vue cinemas).

Giles Edwards, Metrodome Distribution said: ‘The concept of creditcrunchcinema was born in direct response to the negative and depressing financial crisis which dominates our news on a daily basis.  What better way to relieve people from the stress of the credit crunch than to provide escapism in such an exciting and accessible way ....free cinema!"

Cinema goers can find out about the latest Credit Crunch Cinema films and how to access free tickets by emailing [email protected]
All Credit Crunch Cinema screenings are available to guests over the age of 18 years old only.

The Films

One Eyed Monster
When a ferocious blizzard strands the cast and crew of an adult film on their precarious mountain shoot, this ragtag band of eccentric heroes must band together against a mysterious and deadly alien menace which has literally possessed the cast's largest member - Ron Jeremy.

After slaying Ron, his detached junk embarks on a spree of carnal carnage on a colossal scale. With the help of a half-crazed Vietnam vet (Russ Meyer legend Charles Napier), haunted by his own wartime experience with this alien fiend, the race is on to trap and destroy this penile predator before there are more victims of its vicious, utterly unique method of murder.

One Eyed Monster is released on DVD May 18th

Dead Girl
Dead Girl is a black high school and coming-of-comedy horror that journeys to the dark heart of the American high school generation.

When teenage misfits Rickie and JT cut school one day, they find themselves in the derelict remains of an abandoned hospital. The gruesome, unnerving discovery they make in the bowels of the facility will test the very limits of their sanity: a woman, naked, chained and covered in plastic. She's abandoned, she's beautiful, she's dead...or is she?

What follows is a warped odyssey that forces this pair of outcasts, their high-school tormentors and adolescent crushes to all decide just how far they're willing to stretch their understanding of what is right and what is very, very wrong.

Starring Shiloh Fernandez (The United States Of Tara), Noah Segan (Brick), Michael Bowen (Kill Bill), and Candice Accola (Juno).

Dead Girl is released on DVD June 8th

Manhunt
Summer 1974: and four friends have planned a weekend hiking and camping in the remote forests of northern Europe. At an innocuous truck stop they pick up an anxious-looking hitchhiker. Almost instantly, it's clear that she's more than simply unnerved. She's terrified of something...or someone.

Without warning the group is brutally ambushed and when the survivors come to, deep in the secluded forest, miles from civilisation the first thing they hear is the sound of a hunting horn.
Their nightmare is far from over. In fact it has only just begun. The game is on and they realise to their absolute horror that they are the prey...

Manhunt is released on DVD May 25th
