The members of Scotland’s only circus centre, Full Cirqle, are throwing open the doors to their Edinburgh-based warehouse space to the local community in the first of their gala days, Portobello Loves Circus.
And Portobello does love circus! While the circus community in Edinburgh worked hard to forge an amazing dedicated training space for performers and public classes, it was Portobello’s own residents that have stepped up to become the real supporters of the acrobats, aerialists, parkour traceurs, jugglers, actors, dancers, hula-hoopers, musicians and filmmakers that make up Full Cirqle. Portobello Loves Circus promises to be a fun-filled evening of performance from the circus artists, musicians and performers that make Full Cirqle their home. Expect the unexpected with acts new and old.
With the ambition of becoming the home of circus in Scotland, Full Cirqle, Edinburgh's Centre for Circus Arts offers dedicated space and 24/7 access to its members, made up of a number of companies, troupes and individuals, which includes yoga teachers and physical therapists, as well as performance groups.
Full Cirqle’s holistic approach of seeing circus as a big tent for many different activities, has allowed circus skills to reach a wider audience in Edinburgh and the surrounding area with professional training and youth classes in adventurous activities. John “Hedge” Hall runs Access Parkour classes offering a range of sessions for all levels, whether you want to dedicate your life to parkour or just reach the bottom shelf in the kitchen.
