Royal Edinburgh Bus Tour

As we head towards Easter, the visitor season has seriously begun in Edinburgh, not that it goes away, just quietens down slightly after the jamboree of Hogmanay.  From now on,  through Spring and Summer to the glorious Festival season, this is a city for all ages to experience the Castle, museums, galleries and gardens.

While it's possible to walk around exploring the Old to New Towns, the best way to get your bearings and learn a great deal more about Edinburgh is on board one of the Open Top Buses with a choice of Sightseeing Tours.

With the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton this month, and the marriage of Princess Anne’s daughter, Zara Phillips to Mike Tindall in Edinburgh in July, find out more about the British Monarchy on The Majestic Tour. The freshly painted blue and yellow buses feature new recorded commentary in ten languages, and they whisk you around town to see all the famous Royal attractions.

This is a fun and relaxing way to experience history on the move and saves your energy for walking around each place of internest.  From Waverley Bridge head down to the Royal Botanic Garden and then over to Leith docks on the waterfront where the Royal Yacht Britannia is moored.

Formerly the private yacht for the Royal Family, this 5 star attraction offers excellent aural presentation as you stroll on board from deck to deck, seeing accommodation from crew quarters to the Queens bedroom, lavish dining hall to the elegant drawing room. You may also enjoy lunch, coffee, tea and cakes served up on the sunny Royal Deck Tea Room.

The Majestic Tour continues to the Palace of Holyroodhouse with its charming Queen's Gallery showing fine exhibitions of paintings and photographs.  Nearby is the Scottish Parliament and Our Dynamic Earth. The tour continues from the Palace back to the starting point on Waverley Bridge. The 24 hour ticket allows you to explore these wonderful Royal attractions, all of which have cafes and restaurants, as you  hop on and off at the Garden, Yacht and Palace.

To launch the new summer season of The Majestic Tour this year was a very special young couple, “Wills and Kate” who hopped on the bus for a sneak preview.!

It’s a truly great, good value day out for all the family.
