St. Andrew's Day
St. Andrew's Day commemorates Scotland's patron saint and is a Scottish Bank Holiday, although employers are not obliged to give employees time off. St. Andrew's Day is marked on 30th November every year. If that date is on the weekend, the St. Andrew's Day Bank Holiday takes place on the following Monday 1st or 2nd December.
Royal Wedding Holiday
The union of Prince William and Catherine Middleton is being marked across the UK by a national holiday. The Nationalist Scottish Government announced, on 23 November, that Scotland would mark the public holiday too (see First Minister Alex Salmond's statement).

A Summer Bank Holiday - one of the general Bank Holidays For Scotland - although not necessarily a public holiday for all, particularly here in Edinburgh.

The 2nd Scottish Bank Holiday in January.
Boxing Day Bank Holiday
A Boxing Day Bank Holiday takes place on the 26th December the day after Christmas Day.
Christmas Day Bank Holiday
A Christmas Day Bank Holiday takes place on the 25th December if it's a weekday. If Christmas Day is on the weekend then the bank holiday usually takes place on the following Monday.
Scottish Bank Holidays
There are nine statutory bank holidays in Scotland set by the Scottish Government. There are also other Edinburgh public holidays which are determined by local authorities, based on local tradition.
