Edinburgh, EH8 8DXThe Palace of Holyroodhouse, the official residence in Scotland of the Queen, stands at the end of Edinburgh's Royal Mile. It is steps from the Scottish Parliament and sits at the edge of Holyrood Park. It was founded as a monastery in 1128 and was at one point the residence of Mary Queen of Scots. You can visit the Royal Apartments when the Queen is not in residence, and visit the new Queen's Gallery which hosts changing exhibitions from the Royal Collection.
