Edinburgh University Footlights present "The Pajama Game"

Edinburgh University Footlights present the multiple Tony Award winning; "The Pajama Game".

Following the spectacular sell-out successes of "West Side Story" (2007) and "Crazy for You" (2008) Edinburgh University Footlights are delighted to announce that their 2009 show will be the the Tony Award winning; "The Pajama Game".

Labour and management at the Sleep Tite Pajama Factory haven't slept much lately; a proposed 7-and-a-half cent hourly wage increase is why, and a strike may result. But negotiations here involve terrific tunes and dynamic dances as Footlights, "among the top student performers in the country", play The Pajama Game.

With dazzling numbers such as Steam Heat, Hernando's Hideaway and Once-a-year Day, as well as choreography based on Bob Fosse's original dances, it is clear that nothing's quite the same as the Pajama Game!

I would tend to agree with the first comment posted here. Sorry to be harsh but I do not think that Colin Cairncross should carry on doing theatre - as a Director, at least.

I find it quite worrisome to think that the thoughts of not one, but two Musical Directors (Simon Burrow and Nick Fletcher) have been put into this... There is no musical sensitivity or consistency in this production.

Nick Fletcher has no conducting technique, which does not help.

I would suggest that these three (Colin Cairncross, Simon Burrow and Nick Fletcher) find a new occupation. Musical theatre is not for them.

Well, I'm not planning to answer this question. It's true that you could see Scottich Opera for less than that, so it seems quite a lot of money to spend on a student show. I suppose the company also has fees (renting the theatre, publicity etc.). Obviously the musical and stage directors aren't professional; they might be members of the society who have decided to cross the Rubicon or something. One could argue that without having to pay a professional team, they could probably offer a better deal on the tickets... Also the band is very tiny (8 strings and about 10 wind players). Even if you don't get what you have paid for, you are supporting a student company, which is a good thing.
