On Sunday night, we had the award ceremony for the Scottish Arts Club/EdinburghGuide.com Edinburgh Fringe Award for Scottish Drama.

The award, which is open to productions with a Scottish director, writer, cast, or a Scottish based theatre company, was won by ThickSkin Theatre's The Static. The play written by Davey Anderson, appeared at Underbelly and goes on immediately after the Festival as part of Made in Scotland 2012.

Pauline Lockhart, Samantha Foley and director/choreographer Neil Bettles were on hand to accept the sculptured award at the Scottish Arts Club in Edinburgh's New Town.

EG reviewer Lindsay Corr said of the The Static in her review:

"The four strong cast attack the piece with aplomb, with Vernel’s cocky, abrasive opening a sign of an exciting piece of theatre ahead. Narrative is delivered through fast-paced storytelling to give caveats of information on the inhabitants of Davey Anderson’s gritty and humourous prose, while short scenes of reality and imagination intersperse, covering all manner of topics as we glean insight into the characters, who all have their own demons to dance with.

Director Neil Bettles’ transitions are flawless, with the quartet seamlessly moving sets as they weave around the stage."

Runners up for the award were Educating Ronnie and Wojtek the Bear.

Benromach who sponsored the malt whisky prizes is the smallest distillery on Speyside.
