Many Fringe venues will be carrying the live broadcast of the Olympic Closing Ceremony from 9pm.

The big screen at Festival Square will also have free pre-ceremony live entertainment from the talented Finnish a capella comedy act Fork performing excerpts from their Electro Vocal Circus Fringe show from 6.45pm, and at 8.30pm popular cabaret duo Frisky & Mannish.

The Closing Ceremony

After Danny Boyle's uplifting opening ceremony, artistic director Kim Gavin will be giving the athletes and the games a rousing finale in what is titled A Symphony of British Music. The music programme is expected to feature a medley of Brit hits from Elgar to Adele.

The Spice Girls are due to appear, alongside the London Symphony Orchestra, and possibly George Michael, in an event that will feature more than 4,100 performers, including 3,500 adult volunteers and 380 schoolchildren from the six east London Host Boroughs.

As with the Opening Ceremony there are certain elements that must be included: the March of Athletes, the Flag ceremonies and speeches, and Extinguishing of the Olympic Flame as London hands over to  the 2016 Olympic host city Rio de Janeiro.
