Description

A man attempts to navigate his way around a futuristic Paris, a vast, de-humanised world of clean lines and reflections which continually baffle our protagonist and lead him on an unpredictable journey. Jaques Tati’s remarkable visual comedy is a feat of modern filmmaking - it involved the creation of an enormous set and was shot on rare 70mm film. The cost of the film eventually bankrupted the director but the film stands as a critically acclaimed masterpiece, filled with comedic details and expert sound design.

“Playtime is a peculiar, mysterious, magical film.”

-Roger Ebert
