Description

A week of gigs from Leith Folk Club. All performances are at The Village, except Benny Gallagher (check times with venues above)

Tuesday 27th May - Dana and Susan Robinson (£6)
Dana and Susan Robinson sing dust-on-the-boots vignettes of rural America. They reach back into the roots of American music, to the days before bluegrass and country crystalised from the immigrants' traditions.

Wednesday 28th May - Laura Cortese + special guests (£8)
Singer, songwriter and fiddler, Laura lights up the stage with a radiant smile, dazzling musicianship and uninhibited delight. In her self-styled "drum-chop-fiddle-pop", she has created a frisky mix of traditional grace and modern sophistication.

Thursday 29th May - Groanbox Boys (£6)
The most talked about band this year! Groanbox Boys play a foot-stompin blend of Old Time Mountain Gypsy World Folk Blues Music.

Friday 30th May - Benny Gallagher AT THE NETHERBOW in association with Hossack Promotions (£15)
More details from the venue (see above).
In an intimate evening of songs and stories about his days as a Staff Writer with The Beatles Publishing Co. Apple, Benny will perform all of the hits he penned for McGuinness Flint and Gallagher & Lyle - songs that have since been recorded by dozens of top artists.

Saturday 31st May - Burkitt & Stone (£6)
Our big party night! We're celebrating Leith Folk Club's 200th gig and the launch of Frank Burkitt's first album 'for a little less care'. Frank will be joined by the stylish aussie fiddle player Chris Stone and friends for an evening of song after wonderful song.

Sunday 1st June - RB Morris (£8)

It's great to welcome RB back to the club, with his eccentric melding of blistering rock 'n roll, beat poetry, hillbilly twang, spiritual musings and road weary, punch-drunk tales from life's other side.
Monday 2nd June - LAU (£10)

Winner of Best Group at the 2008 Radio 2 Folk Awards and Best Album at the 2007 Scottish Trad Music Awards, Lau are without doubt the finest and most innovative exponents of modern traditional music in Scotland today.

Tuesday 3rd June - Victoria Vox (£6)
In the vast, deserted wasteland of todays music, Victoria Vox is a rare flower in full bloom. Her unique and sensitive vision produces songs brimming with wit and charm, delivered with exquisite perfection.
