everywoman and RBS host Scotland’s flagship event for women in business

2 March 2010, Radisson SAS, Glasgow

Research from everywoman and RBS has revealed women business owners have taken over their male counterparts in growth ambition. Their desire to lead the way in SME growth could represent a £12 billion pound injection to a struggling UK economy.  These findings really show that female enterprise has come of age, as today’s women business owners prove they are more than ready to play their part in a fiercely competitive sector.

However, in the UK female entrepreneurship still lags behind male entrepreneurship with just 15% of all businesses being owned by women. What this means is there continues to be a real need for support and encouragement in this sector and the everywoman Scotland conference taking place on Tuesday, 2 March 2010, at the Radisson SAS, in Glasgow helps to provide this.

The event this year will focus on ‘Is Your Business Worth A Single Day Of Your Time?’ giving delegates the opportunity to devote the day to really think about their business and its future. Attendees will hear from inspirational females who have built up successful businesses from scratch and learn how they can make their own vision a reality.

  • Marketing guru Liz Jackson of Great Guns Marketing will give a keynote speech detailing how her company has grown at 45% per annum in addition to becoming the leading company in her field of business to business telecoms marketing to inspire attendees.

  • Heather White of Smarter Networking will instruct delegates on how they can improve their networking skills for their own benefit.

  • There will be a panel discussion on ‘Winning ideas through innovation and creativity,’ with Summera Shaheen of The Diamond Studio, Gill Eastgate, Director, NKD Clothing Ltd, Kelly Forsyth-Gibson, Director, Thudguard.com (infant safety protection) and Clare Thommen, Director, Boudiche boutique who will all share their pearls of wisdom in a lively debate.

  • Attendees can get creative at specialist Masterclasses - Pauline Stewart of The Edward de Bono Foundation UK will teach attendees how to solve problems by unlocking creativity and injecting fresh ideas into their business. Alternatively, Jill MacRae, Co-founder and Director of Blether Media will lead a session on building online presence and utilising social media in a business strategy to grow your company.

Karen Gill, co-founder and director of everywoman comments, “This year’s conference is set to be a fantastic event with key pointers and tips on how to think outside the box to steam ahead with your own business. The panel discussion is a great chance for women to get real advice straight from the horses’ mouth so delegates should really take advantage of this opportunity.”

Carolyn Currie, Head of Women in Business, RBS comments, “We are proud to be partnering with everywoman again for their third Scottish conference.  This event will be an excellent opportunity for women to improve their skills and learn how our network of Women in Business Ambassadors can benefit female owned businesses.  In the last 12 months over 36,000 women in business have joined RBS, because of work we have done in local communities.”
