I am a bit of a sucker for sketch comedy, for a number of reasons. In many ways, when you have three heads (in this instance) it can be a lot better than one. Where something is lacking in one sketch, it is made up in the next.

Hot on the heals of the Idiots of Ants boys, Sheeps bring their debut to Edinburgh. This is a debut that will most definitely have the crowds talking. The three lads: Liam, Ali and Daran (two of which I saw a number of years ago in the Cambridge Footlights: Devils sketch show) are an extremely talented trio. I suppose it helps that they live together.

What I enjoyed about this hour was the fact that clearly each of the boys has a set of different skills that they can bring to the table. Where one may have been lacking, the others make it up. Each lad has the conviction of every character that they embody, using timings and facial expressions to full effect to gain the most in laughter from the audience.

The calling of a sheep signals each sketch change, ranging and covering a variety of ideas (football managers, mutant friends and Mrs McKinley) that work to a high standard. Many of them, I imagine, born from discussions of: ‘what if this…’

If for this festival, you want to laugh (I am still laughing at one of the sketches after three days) then Sheeps is for you. Grab your friends and head down to the Pleasance Hut to see these boys live while you can – surely the next step must be TV? I do hope so.

Times: Aug 3rd - 28th (Not 16th) @ 16:45. Tickets between £7:00 and £9:50
