The combined cadet forces celebrate a century and a half of operations by land, sea, and air with a special open day in Princes Street Gardens with free hands-on activities such as a climbing tower, inflatable assault course, first aid display, army face painting, signals stand and military displays.
The day ends with a Beating of the Retreat on Edinburgh Castle Esplanade which can be viewed from stands that have been erected for the Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
