Following in the footsteps of the hugely successful TEDtalks, the Edinburgh International Science Festival introduces in 2012 the Edinburgh Enlightenment Exchange or Edinburgh E2 .
The event brings together scientists, artists, musicians and other creative innovators for a series of short, sharp presentations and performances that will "inspire and enthrall".
The event also takes its inspiration from the Scottish Enlightenment of the 18th century which saw Edinburgh become a centre for discoveries, inventions, and new ways of looking at the world.
The BBC's Quentin Cooper hosts the event.
Tickets can be bought online for the full day for £35 or a half day £20.
