The epitaph for Greyfriars Bobby, the famous Skye terrier, reads:
GREYFRIARS BOBBY
DIED 14TH JANUARY 1872
AGED 16 YEARS
LET HIS LOYALTY & DEVOTION
BE A LESSON TO US ALL
The inscription at the bottom reads:
"Erected by the Dog Aid Society of Scotland & unveiled by HRH the Duke of Gloucester on 13th May 1881."
