Holyrood Park will be closed to vehicles during The Gathering - a keynote event of the 2009 Year of Homecoming.

On Saturday, 25 July, all roads, other than Low Road from Duddingston to St Leonards, will be shut from 8am.

All roads, including the Low Road, will be closed on Sunday, 26 July - as is normally the case on Sundays.

Queen's Drive will reopen at 10.30pm.

The only car park access will be at Duddingston on Saturday and Sunday.

All visitors to The Gathering are advised to come by public transport or find alternative parking arrangements.

Joe Muir, Holyrood Park and Gardens Manager, said: "We hope drivers will understand that this brief closure is for a very special reason and will allow it to be used as a showcase for the very best of Scottish culture."

The council will also be closing the loop road between Holyrood Gait and Horse Wynd.

Access to the playing field area will be by ticket only, but the rest of the park will be open as usual.
