Corstorphine Zoo's pandas, Sweetie and Sunshine, are to become the faces of a new banner campaign to draw more visitors into the area’s town centre.

The banners will feature the two pandas going about their daily business in Corstorphine – from getting a haircut to shopping for prams and stocking up on groceries.

They will be hung from lamp posts to promote the various niche businesses in Corstorphine as a local town centre and gateway to Edinburgh.

Steve McGavin, Head of Physical Development Support, said: “Corstorphine is home to some of the best contemporary independent retailers in the city. It has its own unique identity and the banners will create a sense of this."

The initiative is part of a sustained effort to build stronger town-centres in Edinburgh – promoting these key areas as shopping and visiting destinations in their own right.
