PRESS RELEASE

Taiko Drummers Come to The Music Box

Stevenson College Edinburgh will be dancing to a new beat on Saturday 8th
March, when members of the acclaimed Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers bring
their exhilarating combination of rhythm, dance and athleticism, The Way of the Drum, to The Music Box.

The
College's new state-of-the-art £5m music and performing arts centre
will play host to the dynamic show, which has become a popular and
acclaimed touring production since premiering at the Edinburgh Fringe
Festival in 2003. Described by the organisers as "hard-hitting and
energetic", the show is performed by a dedicated group who trained
rigorously in Japan for two years before becoming the UK's first and only professional touring Taiko company.

Now
based in the UK's first purpose-built centre for Taiko in rural South
Lanarkshire, members of the Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers continue to tour The Way of the Drum,
whilst also concentrating on educational outreach projects, with the
aim of spreading and developing the art of Taiko drumming in the UK.

Kara
Davies, Manager of The Music Box, said: "We are really looking forward
to welcoming the Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers to Stevenson. Their reputation
for putting on a lively and entertaining show precedes them, and we
hope to see lots of local people take the opportunity to enjoy this
spectacle, right on their doorstep."

The Way of the Drum

is on at The Music Box, Stevenson College Edinburgh, on Saturday 8th March at 7:30pm. Tickets cost £14 (£8 concs) and are available from the box office on 0131 535 4840.
