News Release – 15 January 2008

THE X FACTOR DANCE COMPANY presents

OTHER VOICES, OTHER ROOMS

A voyage of discovery through emotionally charged landscapes

X
Factor Dance Company, Scotland's consistently engaging and visually
stimulating dance theatre company, premieres its new promenade work,
Other Voices, Other Rooms, in spring 2008.

Breaking
free from the thematic style of past productions the company's first
site-specific work since 1992, will be showcased at the Freemasons
Hall, George Street, Edinburgh from 19 February to 1 March.

Together
with dancers, actors and a musician, audiences of this intimate and
thrilling dance theatre experience will venture on an atmospheric
voyage of discovery, through emotionally charged landscapes, room by
room.

With
a refreshing new look to the company and an imaginative, thought
provoking, and mysterious promenade piece, Artistic Director Alan Greig
sails into new choreographic territory. Other
Voices, Other Rooms is an aural and sensory delight that sees The X
Factor Dance Company continue its 18-year mission to entertain and
communicate by creating emotional and highly visual dance

Alan
Greig, Artistic Director and Choreographer of X Factor Dance Company,
said; 'Other Voices, Other Rooms is an exciting brand new creation for
X Factor Dance Company. The stunning architecture of the Freemasons
Hall forms the backdrop to an inspirational journey through space, with
the audience joining us every step of the way; using poignant
narrative, inspirational dance and intriguing live music for the first
time ever!'

'I
am delighted to be working with a talented team of dancers and an
accomplished musician – we have collaborated before and we make a great
team. A new addition to the ensemble is actor Grant Smeaton, who brings
with him great artistic flair, creativity and experience. This should
make for interesting dynamics between the artistic team and the
audience!'

'Other
Voices, Other Rooms' is directed and choreographed by Alan Greig and
features leading professional dancers and actors, Davina Givan (Richard
Alston Company) Errol White (Scottish Dance Theatre, Phoenix Dance
Theatre) and Grant Smeaton (Suspect Culture/NTS, BBC's Only An Excuse)
with original music from Tom Murray (Dumb Instrument). The company are
thrilled to be working with Alan Faulds (Traveller) and Craig Simpson
(Pilrig Park), two exceptional performers who have worked with X Factor
recently on education projects.

Education
is an integral part of The X Factor Dance Company's identity and the
company is fully committed to the long-term development of youth and
community dance through workshops and residencies. The company has achieved national recognition for its education work. Other
Voices, Other Rooms will include a college, schools and youth group
education programme with the site-specific production forming the
central inspiration for the dance workshops.

Alan Greig added: 'I discovered both Craig and Alan at Pilrig Park and Traveller

during
education workshops and master classes that I held there in the past. I
was so impressed with both of them, I asked them to work with us at X
Factor Dance on our latest project – the rest is history'.
