Tickets for Edinburgh International Festival 2008 go on sale

tickets on sale!

Tickets for the
eagerly-awaited Edinburgh International Festival 2008 go on sale at 10am this
Saturday 12 April.

The exciting programme of music,
opera, dance and theatre runs from 8 to 31 August, with busy sales expected as
soon as the box office opens.

Amongst those expected to
sell fast are the world premiere of Matthew
Bourne’s Dorian Gray
by New Adventures dance company (from
£15), Giselle by the State Ballet
of Georgia with prima ballerina Nina Ananiashvili (from £10), the world
premiere of the National Theatre of Scotland’s 365 (from £10); and
three concerts with the London Symphony Orchestra under Valery Gergiev,
covering all seven Prokofiev symphonies, his two violin concertos and sinfonia
concertante for cello and orchestra (from £10 each concert).

Marketing Director Jackie
Westbrook said: ‘Some events are likely to sell out so if you are very
keen on a particular show it is always best to secure your tickets as soon as
possible to avoid disappointment.’

There are special
arrangements for the purchase of tickets for the Bank of Scotland Fireworks
Concert which takes place on 31 August. Tickets for Princes Street
Gardens (£10) are
allocated in three ways:

  • By postal ballot, limited to six per customer. Please send separate
    payment and application with SAE. Closing date for the ballot is Monday 19
    May.
  • An allocation will be released for sale online at 11am on Monday 21
    July at www.eif.co.uk These are
    limited to four per customer.
  • The final allocation goes on sale on Sunday 24 August at 10am
    available in person only from the counter at the Hub. These are limited to
    four per customer.
