ALL- GIRL THEATRE COMPANY BRINGS WORLD PREMIER TO EDINBURGH.

Flying Pig Productions’ all female company is pleased to present the world premier of ‘My Single Friend’ in rep (8pm – 9pm each evening) with an old favourite, ‘Road’ by Jim Cartwright,  at Venue 39 on the Royal Mile from 2nd August 08.

‘My Single Friend’ is based on a true story in which three friends find themselves unexpectedly single at the same time.  A bizarre, funny and, at times, tragic string of events bring the friends closer together, enabling them to draw strength from one another.  This play explores the importance of friendship and how each character rebuilds their life, rediscovering love after loss.

August 3, 5, 7, 9.

Jim Cartwright’s ‘Road’ takes us back in time to the recession of the late 80s.  Under the guidance of the irrepressible, rum- addled Scullery, the audience is guided down a scruffy, depressed road in a small Lancashire town.  As we are introduced to each of the Road’s disenfranchised inhabitants, we watch them struggle to give their lives some meaning in this stark, though often funny, drama.

August 2,4,6,8.

This year Flying Pig Productions consists of seven female actors drawn from A Level Drama and Theatre Studies at Bungay High School in Suffolk .  Each member is an experienced performer, having participated  in many extra curricular shows including ‘Guys and Dolls’, ‘Les Miserables’ and most recently, ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’.  Their burgeoning talent is most apparent in their ability and confidence to play the male roles in both these dramas.

This is the first time they have ever performed at The Fringe.  They are very excited… and more than a little scared!
