Stormcrows
& Celtic Soul

Award
winning singers in
Edinburgh showcase Andi Neate Band, Mairi Campbell & Ewan MacPherson

Two award winning singer songwriters
and one of the first ever graduates from Paul
McCartney's Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in the line-up should be
enough to make a gig at Edinburgh's Cabaret Voltaire on 16th November a must-see event.

Angel-voiced,
street tough acoustic artist Andi
Neate has been compared with Suzanne Vega, Ani Difranco and the
Cranberries.
Her
music has taken her as far afield as Canada, Tblisi
and the Falkland Islands as well as regular
appearances at Prague, Glastonbury,
Wickerman and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals. The Edinburgh gig
follows on from tours to Canada and Prague.   She was one of the winners of Burnsong Gathering (2007),
the national competition set up to find and promote the best new songwriting
talent in Scotland.

Andi
does not easily fit into established categories, but draws on a wide range of
influences from folk to rock to jazz.
She is a compelling live performer - a singer/songwriter of exceptional
talent, with a powerful voice, a gift for melody and delightfully quirky
lyrics.   She will be performing with her
regular band - which coincidentally includes backing vocals from Anne Sofie Linge
Valdal, a founder member of Fribo,
with Ewan MacPherson.   She is currently
working on her 5th CD - Crows,
Rooks & Ravens
(due for release March 2009) and will be showcasing some of the new songs which will be appearing on it,
including Stormcrow, Come Back Home, Headlights, Story Book Man and Too Busy
Playing God
CD
special guests include SCO's Robert McFall.
The
producer is Joe Bennet, Head of Department of Music at Bath Spa University, who was one of the Burnsong
Gathering mentors.

The special guests in
the line-up are Ewan MacPherson and Traditional Singer of the Year (Trad
Music Awards and Liveireland 2008) Mairi
Campbell.
Mairi was also a Burnsong Gathering winner in 2007, as
the other half of the Cast (with
Dave Francis)   Their version of Auld Lang Syne was featured in the recent Sex and the City film.  Mairi's music features inventive use of vocal
and instrumental harmonies, and has been described as celtic soul - deep and
intimate.

Ewan MacPherson (one of the first ever graduates from Paul
McCartney's Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts) is one of the cornerstones
of acclaimed Nu-Nordic band Fribo.   His music reflects an upbringing in Liverpool and rural North Wales alongside his Scottish & Irish
ancestry.  As well as Fribo he has performed
and recorded with various bands including Malinky, the Battlefield Band and
60's Nu-Folk artist Vashti Bunyan.  His debut album, Norther,
is due for release in early 2009.
