Local bestseller becomes Edinburgh's favourite travel guide

Super sales of The Locals' Guide to Edinburgh confirms the popularity of
insider's guides

Fledgling Edinburgh-based publishing company Word of Mouth Travels
celebrated their first birthday this week with the news that their locally
produced guide has already sold out its initial print run. Sales figures
for August saw the title top of the Amazon charts for Edinburgh guides, a
performance that was mirrored in stores with one leading retailer selling
60% more than established brand Time Out. The guide has sold consistently
since and has been snapped up by VisitScotland (as a gift for Tartan Day
2008), the Royal Bank of Scotland and Six Nations Hospitality packages.

Written by the people of Edinburgh for visitors and city residents alike
The Locals' Guide to Edinburgh is the first ever 'organic' travel guide
featuring the tips and recommendations of those living here. In addition
interviews with 'local legends' including Gavin Hastings, Malcolm Fraser,
Mary Contini and fashion designers Holly Campbell & Lynsey Miller reveal
their views on what makes Edinburgh such a special city. This unique
organic approach has been a new departure in travel publishing and has
proved a big hit with locals' and tourists alike.

Co- Editor Claudia Monteiro is thrilled with the success of the guide that
started out as a chat in the pub with her friend Owen on a cold January
night; 'We're so pleased The Locals' Guide has become such a hit. There's
been a trend towards insider knowledge and personalised information in the
travel industry and the people we interviewed and hundreds of Edinburghers
that gave their tips have been instrumental in the guide's success.' The
Locals' Guide to Edinburgh is to be the first in a series of travel guides
interviewing locals to get the inside track on cities in Scotland and
Europe.

To celebrate this achievement the publishers are offering a special '2for1
Beat the Crunch Christmas Offer' on their website
http://www.localsguidetoedinburgh.com/specialoffer. Normally retailing at
£9.99 plus P&P. Bookers can now buy 2 Christmas gifts for the price of one
so order now in time for Christmas!
