The Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) is looking for runners 31st of May

CHARITY
CHALLENGE FOR CHAS

Up for a challenge? The Children's
Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) is looking for runners to take part in the
Edinburgh Marathon on Sunday 31 May 2009.

Standard entries for the UK's second biggest marathon are now closed but CHAS still have places available for
Hairy Haggis Relay Teams, or for individual runners keen to take up the 26.2
mile race.

The event is a great way
to get active and all CHAS runners will be entitled to a special discount on
running gear from Run4It shops throughout Scotland. Individual runners and
teams will also be given support and advice on how to raise their fundraising
total of £500.

The Edinburgh Marathon route
starts at the end of Princes Street, taking in the sights of Edinburgh, before
heading out along the stunning East Lothian coastline. The grandstand finish is
at Musselburgh racecourse, where CHAS will welcome runners with a celebration
reception.

A children's hospice offers
professional care, practical help and emotional support to the whole family
usually from the day of acceptance, to the death of their child, and beyond.

Rachel House in Kinross, Scotland's first children's hospice, opened in March 1996. Robin House in Balloch opened
in August 2005. Both hospices are purpose-built and each can provide ongoing
support for up to 200 families across Scotland each year. The CHAS at Home Team
offers support to families across Scotland by providing a home care service to
families in their own homes when they need it.

Children's Hospice Association
Scotland (CHAS) is a Scottish charity established to provide hospice services
in Scotland for children and young people with life-limiting conditions.

It costs more than £5 million each year to run both hospices and our
CHAS at home service. These services are free to children and families who need
them and are funded mainly through the huge generosity of our supporters who
help us in so many ways. CHAS also relies on over 900 volunteers who gave over
79,000 hours worth of time last year (2007).  This is equivalent to a donation
of over £1 million. Visit CHAS at www.chas.org.uk
